Work from 7:30 A.M. until AT LEAST 5:00 P.M. during weekdays, also bringing
about an hour’s worth of work home those days. I spend one morning or
afternoon on the weekend, approx. 5 hours on school related work, either at
home or by coming to school on Saturday or Sunday. Most lunches at school
are spent working with students or planning.

During the week at least an hour or more 4 nights. On the weekend, easily 3-6
hours, if I can get away from my family to do it. I will often take my work with me
to plan or grade, read when traveling or visiting family.

Mon. – Fri., I put in at LEAST 20 hours of additional time. I also work at LEAST
10 hours each weekend. It takes a great amount of time to communicate with
parents, plan, assess, prepare lessons, create and maintain a clean, organized
and inviting classroom, participate in curriculum committees, read professional
literature for district initiatives, and more. My children, spouse, home and
extended family truly receive less attention than my teaching does each week. I
have given up community obligations, such as teaching Sunday School,
because I have too much school work to do outside of contracted hours.

That varies from week to week depending upon what meetings/obligations that
there are, but on average I work 15 to 20 hours beyond my contracted hours. I
come to work early, stay late, work on the weekends and always take work
home with me.

I am here everyday at least 45 minutes outside of my contracted hours daily as well as time at home grading and planning. I would say that I put in about 8-10 extra hours a week.

A lot. I am always taking things home. I have “homework” all the time. I probably put an additional 10-12 hours if we count getting to school early, staying late and weekend work. This is a very HONEST answer.

On average and extra 2 hours a day during the work week. I arrive usually and
hour and a half before school and stay an additional 45 minutes after school. I
have come in on many weekends and bring school work also on the weekends
and put in between 2-10 additional hours on the weekends. I also devote a good
15 extra hours during breaks, and have spend many weeks planning my
classroom and instruction during the summer vacation.

-Atleast 2-4 hours on weekends -45-30 mins. before schoool (each day) -work
atleast 15 minutes during most lunches – around 1-2 hours after school by only
using the minimum from my ranges I work an extra 10 hours and 45 minutes

1 am at school every morning at 7:00 and leave around 5:00. I am currently in a graduate program where I have class once a week. I spend my Sundays doing my lesson planning and other homework. I check my email every day over the weekend and consult with parents and work around their schedule. I would say I work about 55-60 hours a week.

I put in a minimum of 50 hours per week. They want to take the winter and
spring break away because they don’t have it off in the private sector? Really
that is kindergarten mentality. We can be like the private sector and come
exactly at our start time and leave at our end time and NOT work at home. I
guess the lesson planning and grading can happen when we can find time
during our day, just like in the private sector.

grade but I have 366 students to keep up with and equipment to manage. I am
always looking for new teaching ideas and creating the things that go with the
lesson takes time.

10-20. Leaving “on time” often means leaving 1 1/2 to 2 hours late. I work from
home in the evenings and on the weekends. I enjoy my work, and I am happy to
do it. Coming in over breaks will not necessarily contribute to educational
quality. I work extra hours when they need to be worked.

beyond what they think… my students submit assignments via email, moodle,
edmodo all day/every day- i am CONSTANTLY logged in and
collaborating/providing feedback to students to ensure their success in the
content i deliver- the amount of work the district requires us to do can not be
done from 715-315 – i get to my building at 600 and work till 315, then work
every night for a minimum of one hour, i work on the weekends, and i am also in
school for my master’s- all while trying to have any kind of a social life, and be a
wife and mother
